Studio Kyáneos

Studio Kyáneos is an architecture and design practice inspired by the ancient Greek word for blue.

Unlike the modern perception of blue, which encompasses various shades, kyáneos/kyanos specifically referred to a deep, dark blue, often associated with the colour of the sea or the sky. The connection to this deep, dark blue reflects a sense of mystery and depth, both visually and metaphorically.

In the context of design, especially when focused on innovation, art, and sustainability, there seems to be an analogous desire to create something meaningful and lasting—just as the color kyáneos would imply something profound and enduring. The idea of blending aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability speaks to a design philosophy that goes beyond just building structures; it becomes about fostering connections, telling stories, and integrating environmental mindfulness into every detail.

It captures the essence of architecture as a fusion of both artistic and functional elements, where each project goes beyond just structure—it becomes an experience. 

Studio Kyáneos was founded in 2024 by Marilena Zafeiropoulou, in London, currently undertaking various residential and commercial projects in both the UK and Greece.
